Shivjayanti is celebrated annually to mark the birth of the legendary Maratha warrior, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, whose legacy continues to inspire generations. This year, Vande Mataram Degree College celebrated Shivjayanti with much enthusiasm and respect, offering a platform for students and faculty to come together and honor the ideals and achievements of Shivaji Maharaj.

The celebrations began with a formal ceremony at JMF Mandapam, where a grand procession was organized. Students, dressed in traditional attire, marched to the venue, creating an atmosphere of cultural unity and enthusiasm. The ceremony began with the lighting of the lamp by to mark the beginning of the event.

1. Floral Tribute: The event commenced with the paying of floral tributes to the portrait of Shivaji Maharaj.
2. Speech by the Chief Guest:Hon’ble MLA Mrs Gaikwad and Corporator Mr Mahesh Patil delivered an inspiring speech, reflecting on the life of Shivaji Maharaj, focusing on his leadership qualities, military innovations, and his vision for a just and free India. The speech resonated deeply with all present, emphasizing Shivaji Maharaj’s undying legacy.
3. Cultural Performances: Students performed a series of dances and skits that depicted pivotal moments from Shivaji Maharaj’s life. The traditional "Lavani" dance, accompanied by folk music, was a highlight, showcasing the cultural richness of Maharashtra.
4. Poetry and Devotional Songs: A group of students recited poems and sung bhajans (devotional songs) dedicated to Shivaji Maharaj, invoking the spirit of his leadership and devotion to the nation.

The Shivjayanti celebrations at were not only a tribute to the iconic figure of Shivaji Maharaj but also an opportunity for the college community to unite in reverence. The day was marked by an infectious spirit of patriotism, pride, and cultural celebration. As students dispersed after the event, they were filled with inspiration to carry forward the values of leadership, justice, and bravery that Shivaji Maharaj exemplified.
